HypnoNews is committed to making our evidence-based hypnotherapy content usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology. We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Conformance status
As of 31 May 2026, HypnoNews is conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA across its core page templates (home, articles, condition and research hubs, search, and content pages), based on the automated and manual testing described below. “Conformant” means the content meets the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria we were able to evaluate.
How we test
We verify accessibility on every representative page template using a combination of automated and manual checks:
- Automated: axe-core and Lighthouse run on home, article, category, search, and section-landing pages — currently 0 violations (Lighthouse accessibility score 100).
- Manual: keyboard-only operation of all interactive controls (navigation, search, filters), logical focus order with a visible focus indicator, a skip-to-content link, correct landmark and heading structure, content reflow to a 320 px viewport with no horizontal scrolling, support for reduced-motion preferences, and no keyboard traps.
- Cross-browser: the site is smoke-tested on Chromium, WebKit (Safari engine), and Firefox.
- Colour contrast: body, UI, and badge text meet the WCAG AA 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
Known limitations
Automated tools detect only a portion of possible accessibility issues, and our manual testing — while thorough — cannot cover every combination of browser, operating system, and assistive technology. We have not yet completed an independent third-party conformance audit or a full certified screen-reader evaluation. If you encounter a barrier we have missed, please tell us (below) — we treat accessibility as an ongoing commitment, not a one-time checkbox.
